12. The South Solar Bedroom.

The South Solar Bedroom was an area usually occupied by guests of the Earl of Thomond. This room is furnished with a heavy carved oak bed with deeply moulded testers supported by two heavy bulbous pillars 16th century. The needlework bed coverlet decorated with leaves and flowers is 17th century as are the cushions. The oak “Lorraine” chair is French c.1680. On the left is an oak Corner Cupboard consisting of 8 doors of Dutch Shuttering, plain on the outside and linenfold paneling on the inside, with even hinges and fastenings - early 16th century. There is a 17th century bed warming pan on the oak coffer at the foot of the bed. The chandelier is bronze from Italy.
