The portrait to the left is of Lord Gort who donated his collection of medieval furnishings to the Castle. Below that a “Wassail Bowl” and copper gilt mantle clock are displayed. The red chair is also of the17th century. The fireplace is original. The Brussels Tapestry 16th century shows martial and other royal scenes; the musical instrument in front is a virginal dated 1661. The linenfold panelling is 16th century. The ceiling is partially a replica in the Tudor style. The casket is bone/ivory, German 15th century. To the left of the window we see two French walnut cupboards of the 17th century. An early 17th century embossed silver dish is in the window. The painting at the end of the room is of Viscountess Gort (by Philip de Laszlo, 1933 ).
