Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is one of Ireland’s most iconic and much loved days out for School Tours. The acclaimed 15th century Bunratty Castle and 19th century Bunratty Folk Park provides students with the opportunity to experience and explore a window on Ireland’s past.
From the turbulent history within the castle walls to the charming window onto an Ireland of a by-gone era, students and teachers alike experience the sights, sounds and smells of this enchanting folk park setting in an
interactive and fun nature. Costumed characters recreate the traditions and lifestyle of a Ireland of old. Among these well known and loved characters are the Bean a Ti (lady of the house) who is busy each day baking
homemade delights for all the sample. Visit our school house built circa 1905 and meet the Headmaster who may teach you an Irish tune or two or wander the charming village streetand meet our RUC Policeman doing his rounds ensuring all the visiting boys and girls are behaving themselves!
Discover our magical fairy village located in a pretty woodland section of this historic landmark where schools can explore and picnic or burn off some energy in our Viking themed playground
complete with pirate ship, zipwire and much more to keep active kids entertained!
Our structured programme guides teachers and students around the park on a treasure trail of learning and adventure.Students can get up close and personal with our indigenous Irish animals. Follow this with a
picnic in our designated school tour area and then burn off any excess energy in our playground.

Transition Year Programme 2018
From Orienteering to Archery, Zorbing to Wall Climbing, CV Preparation to Interview Skills, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is the ideal venue for Transition Year Students to develop their teambuilding, leadership and communication skills.
This one day programme is designed to equip students with practical life skills necessary for real life situations and is closely linked to modules within the Transition Year Programme, such as; cultural studies, interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the following in a workshop environment which is interactive and participative;
- Leadership Skills
- Communication Skills
- Assertiveness Techniques
- CV Preparation
- Interview Techniques
- Individual Motivated Skills
Participants will put their skills into practice and select activities in a fun and structured environment;
- Orienteering using Smart Phone Clue Trail
- Wall Climbing
- Team Challenges
