Your wedding cermony is one of the most important events of your life and naturally you want everything to be just perfect.
Knappogue Castle is delighted to welcome brides and grooms from all over the world to celebrate their wedding blessings with us.
Ceremonies can be held in a number of spaces within the castle grounds including our elegant drawing rooms, Clancullen Hall or indeed in our formal gardens.
Surrounded by the tranquil landscape and rolling hills of County Clare, Knappogue is located in a truly picturesque setting. Here you can celebrate an outdoor wedding blessing in the magnificent Walled Garden, and enjoy a welcome drinks reception with your guests and of course have your beautiful wedding photographs. Alternatively the formal gardens are very close to the main entrance and offer a more intimate castle backdrop for your wedding pictures.
You can enjoy a private intimate blessing in the Castle’s private chapel - St. Marks Chapel - or celebrate your ceremony with a larger group in the Clancullen Hall. For civil ceremonies the MacNamara Room is ideal.
The State Room Bridal Suite has three bedrooms and is beautifully appointed with historic furnishings, superb paintings and open fires. With its reputation and tradition for romantic splendor, you will luxuriate in the ambience of this elegant wing. The bridal suite has a canopy bed, a generous living room with a Baby Grand Piano and en-suite bathroom with sunken bath-tub. In ancient times it became custom for the Bride & Groom to drink Mead for one full moon after their wedding, hence the term ‘Honeymoon’. It was believed that Mead held magical powers of virility and fertility. Enjoy a welcome drink of Mead at Knappogue Castle!
Knappogue Castle is famous for its wonderful Castle Banquet and this can form part of the proceedings for your wedding celebrations. Enjoy the Castle’s finest hospitality to the backdrop of the Castle Entertainers performing best loved songs and anecdotes of times past.
