The answers to some frequently asked questions are provided below under the following headings, Bunratty Day Visits, Bunratty Banquet, Irish Evening at Bunratty and Santa.

Bunratty Day Visits

Q. What time does the castle and folk park open?
A. 9am

Q. What time is the last tour of the castle?
A. 4pm to set-up for the evening Medieval Banquet

Q. What time does the Folk Park Close?
A. 5.30pm

Q. How much time should we allow for the tour of the castle and the folk park?
A. We recommend a minimum of 1 1/2 hours but safer to plan for 2 to 2.5 hours

Q. Do you offer guided tours?
A. We provide a guiding service in the castle but cannot confirm a guide for any given time

Q. Is the guide included in the cost?
A. Yes, the Shannon Heritage guiding service is included in the admission fee

Q. Are dogs allowed?
A. Yes dogs are permitted but must be on a lead at all times.

Q. Do you supply a wheel chair?
A. Yes, there are a limited number of wheelchairs for guest use which are available subject to availability on the day. A refundable deposit of €25.00 will be required for the duration of use.

Q. Is there a lift in the castle?
A. No

Q. Is the Folk Park suitable to wheelchair users?
A. Yes, however there are areas (gradient) where assistance will be required

Q. How many steps on entry to the castle?
A. 19 steps (timber stair casing)

Q. Do you have an ATM Service?
A. No

Q. What constitutes an adult/student/senior?
A. Student card / over 65yrs for senior

Q. Can I use the combination ticket for Cliffs/Bunratty on different days?
A. No

Bunratty Banquet

Q. What are the time of the banquets?
A. 5:30pm and 8:45pm

Q. Do we need to make a reservation?
A. Yes

Q. Do they operate every night?
A. Yes during high season (April – September) subject to demand between October - March

Q. Do you provide a children’s menu?
A. No. However, we will offer a child’s portion

Q. Do you serve beer and spirits a the banquet?
A. No. We only serve meade, red/white wine , soft drinks and water. Tea/Coffee is served in the basement after the banquet is finished

Q. Is there a vegetarian option?
A. Yes, we can offer a vegetarian tartlet served with vegetables and potatoes

Q. Do you take of care of special dietary requests?
A. Yes, you must order any such request in advance (12 hours)

Q. What is the duration of the banquet?
A. 2.5 hours

Q. Can we request special seating?
A. Yes, however, this is at the discretion of the duty manager who prepares a seating plan on the night. We cannot guarantee any particular seating

Q. Is Mac’s Bar open after the banquet?
A. No. Mac’s bar closes at 5:30pm each evening

Q. Can we stay on in the castle after the banquet?
A. No.You are expected to leave the castle once the show is over

Irish Evening at Bunratty

Q. Where is the Corn Barn located?
A. On the grounds of the Folk Park next to the gift shop

Q. What is the duration of the show?
A. 2.5 hours

Q. How many people can it seat?
A. 200

Q. Is there a vegetarian option?
A. Yes

Q. Can I request special seating?
A. Yes, however, this is at the discretion of the duty manager who prepares a seating plan on the night. We cannot guarantee any particular seating

Santa

Q. Is the photo included in the price?
A. No. Optional and payable on the day

Q. How long does the visit to Santa take?
A. Please allow one hour which involves the waiting area, visit to the grotto, photo. The remainder of the time is at you leisure
